How Advanced Tow Assist Works

If you’ve ever backed up a trailer before, then you know that it can be a complicated task involving some difficult steering maneuvers and requiring some real driving skill. The 2017 Land Rover Discovery makes this task easier with the introduction of a new Advanced Tow Assist feature.

The Land Rover Discovery was already offered with a regular Tow Assist features that displayed a camera view of what was behind the vehicle of the trailer along with steering directions to make the task easier. But now, Advanced Tow Assist takes it to the next level. In addition to giving you a view behind the vehicle and directions for steering the vehicle into its spot, Advanced Tow Assist actually takes over the steering maneuvers for you, leaving only the task of acceleration and braking to the driver. It uses purple lines on the touchscreen to show where the trailer will go, and these lines turn green when the trailer has reached its proper position.
